The GlyMed Plus treatment you will receive is a clinical therapy designed to exfoliate or remove the outer layers of the
skin (epidermis), depending on the level of treatment. These solutions are used to assist in the drying of active acne,
dislodging or purging blackheads, reduction of superficial wrinkles or scarring, improving the appearance of mature or
aging skin, rectifying sun damage or lightening pigmentary disorders (sun or age spots).
Your participation in your skin treatments will determine their outcome. It is important that you are consistent with
your GlyMed Plus prescribed home care products. Report to your aesthetician or physician any changes in health, diet,
lifestyle or undesired response to products. Apply sunscreen as directed and avoid excess sun exposure and tanning
beds. Inform your aesthetician or physician of any travel or recreation plans for the weeks prior to and following your
treatment; these may impact upon your post-treatment results and/or recovery.
For the majority of our GlyMed Plus Exfoliation treatments, a very mild tingling or itching sensation can be felt when
the exfoliator solution and active product(s) are applied, which usually subsides within 5 to 10 minutes. The skin can
have a warm feel to the touch and some slight redness, all which generally dissipates within 30 minutes after treatment
(although some skin types can experience mild redness up to 48 hours) leaving a soft, radiant glow to the skin. With these
light and superficial treatments you may experience one or two days of light flaking, your skin may feel tighter one to
two days after treatment, and any pigmentation spots (brown spots) may darken (and then subsequently lighten).
For GlyMed Plus Clinical Peeling Treatments, the solutions are applied with the intent to peel the superficial layers of
the skin to varying degrees, with results including but not limited to shedding, peeling and flaking, visibly improving
pigmentation and the signs of skin aging. No guarantee is made or implied regarding results, peeling times or level of
discomfort. Your treatment may involve the application of several peels at one, two, or four week intervals as determined
by your aesthetician or physician. It may include the use of skin brightening agents and will include the use of GlyMed
Plus sun protection products, antioxidant preparations and AHA formulations. You may be required to prepare your skin with the use of GlyMed Plus clinical homecare products for 3 or more weeks prior to your first treatment. In some cases a patch test may be performed to determine your suitability for this treatment; and a nominal fee may be applied for this.
If you feel that your skin requires a re-evaluation post-treatment, please contact your aesthetician or physician as soon as possible. It is extremely rare to have a negative reaction to the products and treatments because of the nature of our organic, bio-identical formulations, and often times the skin just needs more hydration and a little more healing time, but ensuring your comfort and satisfaction with your treatment is always our first priority.
